This shot was taken on the way to the Odyssey Arena in November 2011 on my Samsung compact. My friend Colm had two tickets for the MTV music awards and invited me, he is a big fan of the band Queen who received an award that night. I knew nothing of MTV awards but I knew Belfast and so was the nominated tour guide. Although the MTV event was all Lady Gaga, Jessie J and Justin Bieber, nothing I would vaguely consider as music (thanks Colm), it was a good night on the town. If you have never been to Belfast, you are missing out. It is a fantastic city, somewhere I always look forward to revisiting. If like me you are into live music, check out the empire music hall on Botanic avenue, sadly Auntie Annies on Dublin road has now closed down. If you fancy a nice all day veggie fry up, you cannot beat the Harlem Café on Bedford Street, next to the Ulster Hall – it’s quality.

A Dublin based photographer and musician. I photograph anything that grabs my attention preferably in natural light. I mainly photograph people and animals, be they pets or wildlife. I am interested in street photography also and usually carry a camera with me wherever I go, which usually pays off. I am a part time musician / songwriter and love to photograph other musicians particularly on stage in intimate venues. I find this makes for a particularly interesting challenge as you have little or no control over lighting in a live setting. Making the most of light is the key to a good photograph and knowing what and when to click of course. I have a small sample of photographs available on this site but you will also find more to view on my blog www.davedwyer.com and my instagram #mrdjdwyer I use a Nikon D5100 with various lenses and a Nikon P340. Thanks for stopping by and I appreciate if you share anything you like. View all posts by davedwyer.com
