Spotted a few more stunning wallarts walking through my old favourite Camden this weekend including this great one by Lora Zombie.
Recently, I found out about the VantagePoint project by camera startup light.co. They have a new compact camera called the L16 which has recently sold out and have set up some clever marketing campaigns to make people aware of their new cameras. It sounded interesting and so I decided to take part. The project involves sharing a post with a photo taken on a compact in my favourite location to shoot and tag it with #vantagepoint which they would share on their pinterest board.
I chose this photo, as it was taken in my favourite location, Ibiza town and there is clearly a lot of activity going on and I do like street photography. This was taken last week in Ibiza town on 12th May so say hello if you were lucky enough to be there too. I have been to Ibiza several times now and knew a good location could be the market place.
There was little to no planning in this shot, except that I set the camera up with the following settings as I knew it was quite a bright sunny day and I would be shooting a crowd scene – F / 5.6, speed 1/320 and ISO 200. Other than that, I selected a busy vantage point (see what I did there) in the old market square (Merkat Vell) in front of the castle gate (Portal de ses Taules) and held my camera waist high and just shot the first thing that came along. As luck would have it, a stunning woman appeared from the busy crowd dressed like a super model from head to toe to take centre stage while from the left appeared a couple of holiday makers holding hands. At the last second, a young man appeared from the right (slightly out of focus) racing somewhere pushing a trolley.
Seriously, you couldn’t set this shot up if you tried.

Took a drive out to Vartry Reservoir (near Roundwood, County Wicklow) a couple of weekends ago and took a camera. A sunny day for the most part and we enjoyed a walk along the bank before heading home again. While she wasn’t paying any attention to me, I took a few shots for The Little Red Hat website while shooting the river and trees. This one was edited in Adobe LR which I learned from photographer Nick Fancher’s amazing book Studio Anywhere. His book has made a massive difference to my Lightroom experience and how I now approach photography. Always learning, always experimenting… I will be posting more from the set at davedwyer.com .
Snapped these happy chappies in Portmarnock a while back. They have no fear of the camera or anything else for that matter and almost get themselves run over on a daily basis as they jump the wall onto the busy road nearby. Motorists please note…
