Had a great trip to Clifden last year and took the Nikon with me around the hills of Connemara, there really is nowhere like it in the World.

“We can be heroes…”
The answer my friend…
One of my favourite watering holes in Galway is Murphy’s Bar, clearly I am not alone.
Back into the West last weekend to see the cousin and drove down the R336 from Galway City into Spiddal stopping off on route to take a few shots. With the sun holding out, we drove up the Moycullen Road, passing the house where The Waterboys recorded their ‘Fishermans Blues’ album and opposite Hughes Bar where many had a great session I’m sure. Oh if only I could have stayed a bit longer..
Well, I travelled to Galway this weekend for work and found myself a nice Velvet Underground Tshirt tucked away in a vintage clothes shop.
While browsing the racks, I was caught by the sounds playing on the stereo in the background, acoustic with a female singing but I didn’t recognise the voice or the songs. I thought it might be She and Him for some reason but was wrong.
I had to ask the assistant “what’s that playing?” I just knew that if I didn’t I would regret it a few minutes later.
The assistant told me it was the Yeah Yeah Yeahs which surprised me ‘cos I thought they sounded alot harder, kind of along the lines of The Kills maybe but this was as mellow as you could get..more like Mazzy Star but I knew it wasn’t.
Anyway, the assistant was kind enough to grab a pen and scribble the name of the album down for me (thanks) – ‘Its Blitz’ and informed me that it was one of their best. Don’t ye just luv discovering a new album?
Now all I gotta do is find a CD version in Dublin. Now don’t even suggest a download pals. It has to be CD for me. It’s going back a few years so it probably won’t be easy to find. So it’s The Secret record and book shop for me.. the best place to find old and current indie releases in Dublin.
